Ecological Study of Aquaponics Bacterial Microbiota over the Course of a Lettuce Growth Cycle

The study of microorganisms in aquaponics is an important topic which requires more research before exploiting the full potential beneficial microorganisms. In this experiment, we focused on evolution over time bacterial communities four compartments aquaponic system i.e., sump, biofilter, lettuce rhizoplane and root. We studied these course a growth cycle via regular sampling sequencing 16S rRNA gene collected bacteria. also followed physicochemical parameters water throughout experiment. Results show that different community could be found each compartment all were stable resilient to naturally occurring parameter changes characterize functioning systems. Furthermore, sump biofilter seem years as predominant taxa (Luteolibacter, Flavobacterium, Nitrospira) observed our are similar ones previously reported for system. Finally, results provide proof similarities between soil borne root (gammaproteobacteria, Pseudomonadaceae, Sphingomonadaceae) thus showing can production terms microbial life.
